Snowball Edge, but like... for Splunk

Quick one here folks. I am currently working on my AWS Arch exam and only today learned about Snowball Edge (not Snowball). Basically AWS ships you a NAS that can execute code.

This is genius. Filter data down and tune the data before shipping the Snowball back to AWS to get loaded into S3.

So this got me thinking... why can't we do these with Heavy Forwarders? Or Cribl? Both? Seems like an easy win for these vendors to get solve some complex data problems.

What's your thought? Worth their time to work on something like this? Anyone want to sponsor a Snowball Edge for me to experiment on? AWS? Splunk?

Seems like a fun project, just a little too pricey without business need.
